The Ever-changing World of Technology:

The Ever-changing World of Technology  For my wild card project I didn't want to limit myself on what I could talk about so I decided to cover some the major technological advances around the world. Whether they deal with the world of medicine, sports, daily living, etc. We started the year off right by looking into the CES electronics show where I discussed a home security camera system that resembled owls called ULO . Looking into the world of things created at this years Consumer Electronics show opened my eyes to a whole new world of electronics and how hard we are working to better our every day lives.  Our world of medicine has made some serious improvements over time where surgery used to be a very dangerous task, surgery now is so precise that it can be performed on a grape. This year the CES show I mention previously was centered around health more than ever before as blood pressure watches, tiny pacemakers, and sleep technology headlined the showings this y...

Forecasting the Future:

Forecasting the Future  The internet is already a huge factor in our daily lives and continues to advance every day. Used for medical, educational, and every day life purposes. If anybody else like me grew up watching cartoons and the infamous Jetsons which follows along a family in an advanced technology reliant world. Growing up I had the silly assumption that was how technology would be when I was older.  Three students in grade twelve in Delhi have created an app that will help people with disabilities like  deafness, blindness, and muteness be able to communicate with ease. The app is called Practikality and has already helped a seven year old partially mute and deaf boy be able to be more social in his every day life. The students got the idea after they realized Braille and sign language helped these people with disabilities but didn't really give them the chance to fully express themselves. The application hasn't been fully released but is in the final ...

Cybersecurity:

Cybersecurity In today’s world technology is everything, we use it every day to do tasks for work. The problem with being so reliant on our technology is that we make it so easy for people to gain access to our personal information. Major companies like Facebook, Google, and Marriott were cyber attacked. We used the internet and our personal devices to store information like our bank accounts, insurance, social security, and other highly personal information. The reason we see so many breaches is tools used to commit cybercrimes are getting smarter as time goes on. In 2018, there were 12,449 confirmed data breaches which is a massive 424% increase from 2017. Identity records are some of the easiest ones to compromise where 47% of the records have been exposed publicly. Recently in a study done by the Bleeping Computer that most cybercriminals have switched their focus from large corporations to smaller businesses simply because they are less protected and easier to access. ...

Internet Innovators:

Internet Innovators    Traditional and startup companies are continually having to push their boundaries and release new products. I first had to look up what exactly a startup company was as I was unsure of what that meant. A startup company is defined as a product or service that is in its early stage of business by entrepreneurs. I am going to discuss a few different innovators and companies that are pushing the envelope. The first company I am going to look at in their startup phase is Halo Top Creamery. Halo Top is sold in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, the United Kingdom, and the Netherlands. The company was created in June 12, 2012 by Justin Woolverton and its headquarters are located in Los Angeles, CA. Halo Top’s is popular for its low-calorie ice cream. Their website compares their ice cream flavors to multiple other top ice cream brands. The company continues to grow by marketing themselves on mobile apps like Twit...
